Humans are carrying an increasing number of small wireless devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players, sensors and PDAs that have the capability to generate, store, process and forward information. The SOCIALNETS project aims to enable these wireless devices to socially network with each other in order to spread information without the need to maintain end-to-end connectivity.
The project’s first step is to understand the complex structures formed by interpersonal relationships – the dynamic nature of human social interactions will be studied and classified. The findings will then be used to inspire the development of applications that fully exploit user behaviour to distribute data and user generated content.
